China's energy electronic industry expected to further development

By  : INDICS Operator Updated  :   2022-08-26 09:55:56

More efforts are anticipated to promote the development of China's energy electronics industry with a goal of reaching 3 trillion yuan ($437 billion) in terms of the industry's annual production output, according to a document released on Thursday by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The nascent energy electronics industry leverages cutting-edge electronic information technologies, such as 5G, artificial intelligence and industrial internet, to deal with problems emerging from the rapidly growing new energy sector. It covers areas including photovoltaic power, new types of power storage batteries and more.

Further efforts should be made to promote the development of solar power, silicon-involving industries such as high purity silicon material production, hydrogen as well as coordinate upstream and downstream industrial development to avoid excess capacity and vicious competition, MIIT said.

It is also necessary to speed up research and development in new types of batteries such as sodium-ion batteries, hydrogen energy storage and fuel cells, etc., and step up efforts ensuring the steady supply of key resources like lithium, nickel, cobalt and platinum as well as promote the development of alternative materials.
