Chinese smartphone brand iQOO has unveiled what it called the world's first smartphone to be equipped with a 200W fast-charging technology, as it eyes a bigger share of the 5G smartphone market.
The new phone, iQOO 10 Pro, has a battery capacity of 4700 mAh. With a WiFi connection, the smartphone can charge from 0 to 100 percent in just 10 minutes, the company claims. It has also taken a string of measures to ensure safety while commercializing the fast-charging technology.
iQOO is an independent brand set up by smartphone company Vivo to target young users. The brand said it has come up with a cooling system that helps regulate the phone's temperature while charging rapidly, and its battery cells are lined up in a specific array to ensure safety. Also, sensors and algorithms monitor the battery cell's temperature control to prevent any damage.
Competition in the flash charging sector has intensified, because the more time people spend on their smartphones, the faster its batteries drain out.
Manufacturers are thus working on fast-charging technologies to shorten charging time while ensuring safety.
